Die Waenhuis Pub and Grub Die Waenhuis was originally the local Bus depot and over the years has been used for various businesses. The owner of the building, Sakkie Retief, opened a pub on the premises a few years ago and served his well known steaks. During September 2004 Lynn Rose-Innes and Jacquie Olivier joined Sakkie after doing extensive renovations, since May 2005, Jacquie provides what you can experience today. We offer good farm style cooking served in an atmosphere seldom found. Enjoy the time you spend with us and experience the good Karoo hospitality that the village has to offer. The menu includes our popular Karoo Lamb Bredie, Venison and Chicken Pies served with crispy hot chips or Quince/Apple Crumble for a little bit of sweetness. Big screen satellite TV - join us for sporting events and movies. Warm atmosphere on cold evenings when we light the fire in the hearth and ice cold beers for those hot summer days. Eatout Magazine 2006 critics reviewPaper-mache kudu, gemsbok and wildebeest lights add a tongue-in cheek spin on a country theme here. This cosy pub is a new addition to Nieu Bethesda, and a welcome one at that. Country stews, venison and chicken pies confirm what country cooking is all about: simple, hearty flavors that leave you satisfied. Be prepared to watch the game on the big screen if it's match day.
